VCSO office - mixing industrial with mid-century modern design

If you’ve ever wondered how to mix industrial with mid-century modern… This is how.

Mixing design styles within a living/workspace can be daunting, but not impossible. A simple rule to keep in mind when dipping your toe into the design style mash-up is simply to remember that “less truly is more.”

The new Oakland-based workspace of VSCO, makers of high-level photo filters and presets, is a great example of this approach. While the overall vibe is raw and industrial, select touches such as the iconic George Nelson inspired bubble lamps add an instant touch of MCM style. Carefully chosen mid-century modern seating in the open gathering spaces completes the look without becoming too heavy or slipping into ‘kitschy’ territory.

Our rule of thumb here at A Life Designed is that it is always better to have one absolutely AMAZING chair that you truly love than three simply “ok” ones just to fill space. Be selective and EDIT, EDIT, EDIT!
